Certified Medical Assistant - Ingersoll Urgent Care

Des Moines, Iowa

Full Time w/Benefits

3 12-hour shifts (W,Th,F) and 1 weekend per month


Responsibilities

As a CMA with Ingersoll Urgent Care, you play a crucial role in the healthcare setting, by providing direct patient care, administrative support, and assisting healthcare professionals in the urgent care setting. Your primary goal is to ensure the smooth flow of patient care, maintain accurate medical records, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the urgent care facility.

Primary duties in this role are:

  1. Patient Care:

    • Greet and assist patients upon arrival, obtaining relevant information and preparing them for examination.
    • Record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints accurately.
    • Assist healthcare providers with medical procedures and examinations.
    • Administer medications, vaccines, and other treatments as directed by the healthcare team.
  2. Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure accuracy of patient data.
    • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and provide information to patients and their families.
  3. Laboratory and Diagnostic Support:

    • Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
    • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood glucose monitoring.
    • Assist with diagnostic procedures and prepare patients for tests.
  4. Infection Control:

    • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment.
    • Ensure proper disposal of medical waste and adherence to sanitation guidelines.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to optimize patient care.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Mandatory Reporter.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and office management.
